This Literacy Week, we’re highlighting the many ways we build all types of literacy for children — from financial literacy to nutrition literacy and even inclusive education

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has officially launched its annual Literacy Week celebrations, running from September 01–05, 2025, with a strong focus on nutritional literacy, financial literacy and cultural literacy. Buk bilong Pikinini’s Literacy Week has been generously supported by Exxon Mobil PNG. Literacy Week is celebrated globally on September 8 to highlight the importance of literacy as a human right and foundation for lifelong learning.

At Buk bilong Pikinini, we believe that literacy and numeracy are just the beginning. True learning starts with a nourished body 🥗 and an active mind 🧠.

That’s why our Nutrition Education Program is a core part of our mission. We don’t just teach children how to read 📖—we teach them how to thrive 🌱.

Theodist, PNG’s leading office and stationery supplier, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to literacy development with a cheque presentation to Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) at the Theodist Showroom at Waigani today.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) today proudly launched its fourth Book Week title for the When I Grow Up (WIGU) reader series: When I Grow Up I Want to be a Production Manager, created in collaboration with Monier Ltd.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) marked the grand finale of its Book Week celebrations (August 11–15, 2025) with an engaging and educational excursion to Ela Motors PNG. As part of Book Week 2025, children from Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Evedahana Library Learning Centre (LLC) enjoyed a deliciously exciting excursion to Pizza Box 9 Mile, turning reading into a hands-on culinary adventure.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) today proudly launched the second title in its When I Grow Up (WIGU) reader series for Book Week 2025, bringing the total number of titles in the series to thirty. When I Grow Up I Want to be a Police Officer – featuring Sylvia Reu, LM, DPS, Chief Inspector Liaison Officer to Police Minister, and teams from the Royal Papua New Guinea Police Constabulary (RPNGC) – was launched at the Water Police Headquarters in Konedobu, where the Buk bilong Pikinini students and team were warmly welcomed by the Water Police Deputy Director, Inspector Giwi Yaku and team.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) students were buzzing with excitement this morning as they visited the Hastings Deering yard in Hohola – an excursion inspired by their recent study of BbP’s published reader ‘When I Grow Up I Want to be a Heavy Equipment Operator reader, which features Hastings Deering.

As part of Book Week 2025, children from Buk bilong Pikinini’s Tatana Library Learning Centre went on an exciting excursion to BSP’s Waigani Head Office, where they learned firsthand financial literacy and the importance of saving from an early age.

The Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) Nutrition Education Program team is currently rolling Parents’ Awareness Session and are getting positive feedback and “aha moments” as parents realize how simple it can be to feed their children a healthy yet affordable diet.  

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) proudly took part in the 2025 Trukai Fun Run on Sunday, 22 June, joining communities across the country in promoting healthy, active, and empowered lifestyles. With the generous support of Trukai Industries and the PNG Olympic Committee, the event was a vibrant celebration of health and community spirit.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) was honoured to host Mr George Constantinou, Group Chairman and Governing Director of The Constantinou Group, for a special cheque presentation ceremony at its Pari Library Learning Centre (LLC) this morning. Representing both The Constantinou Group and The Sir Theo Foundation, Mr Constantinou officially handed over a generous donation of K70,000 to support BbP’s mission of improving early childhood literacy across Papua New Guinea.

Lae, Morobe Province – Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) celebrated a joyful and educational event today at its newly opened St. Steven Library Learning Centre (LLC) in Lae on Thursday, with special guests from the Lae Biscuit Company (LBC), Lewa Biscuit and some of the Lae Snax Tigers players as well as their highly entertaining tiger mascot, Solomon. Lae Snax Tigers players in attendance were Joel Gena, Walter David, Joshua Miall, Reynolds Tai, Bradley Orosambo as well as their coach, Noel Zeming.
