Theodist Renews Commitment to Literacy in Papua New Guinea with Cheque Presentation of K50,000 to Buk bilong Pikinini

Port Moresby, Wednesday 20th August 2025 – Theodist, PNG’s leading office and stationery supplier, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to literacy development with a cheque presentation to Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) at the Theodist Showroom at Waigani today.

As a proud Sponsor of BbP since 2014, Theodist continues its decade-long partnership with the organisation, contributing significantly to BbP’s mission of increasing literacy rates across PNG. Over the past ten years, Theodist’s sponsorship and dedicated support have helped thousands of children gain access to quality books, early childhood education, and literacy programs.

Theodist’s support for BbP is holistic, extending beyond sponsorship. This includes organising children’s field trips, providing accommodation support for Anne-Sophie Hermann, Founder and Vice Chair of Buk bilong Pikinini, during her visits to PNG, selling all BbP-published books, and organising fundraising initiatives such as community BBQ events.

At today’s event, the cheque was officially presented by Mr Ryan Pini, Corporate Development Manager of Theodist and received by Ms Leanne Resson, Executive Officer of Buk bilong Pikinini, in the presence of ten students and a teacher from BbP’s UPNG Library Learning Centre. The students represent the many children across the country who benefit from Theodist’s support.

BbP’s Executive Officer, Leanne Resson, expressed gratitude for Theodist’s enduring partnership:

"Theodist has been one of BbP’s strongest and most consistent supporters. Their commitment over the past decade has not only strengthened our literacy programs but also helped us share our books with a wider audience. We are truly grateful for their wholesome contribution to BbP to giving Papua New Guinean children the gift of reading and learning."

In addition to sponsorship, Theodist plays a key role in supporting BbP’s publishing program by reselling BbP’s books through its Waigani showroom. With recently improved bookshelves and a dedicated display section, the public can now easily access the full range of BbP readers and published titles.

Speaking at the event, Mr Ryan Pini, Corporate Development Manager for Theodist, said:

"Theodist is a Gold Sponsor for Buk bilong Pikinini is proud to support as literacy is a foundation for learning. The partnership has grown over the years growth and we have collaborated on the “When I grow up I want to be a Graphic Designer” reader which is a children’s book series that sparks children’s imaginations to aspire to different professions when they grow up. Theodist is also a reseller BbPs’ Published books with proceeds going to Buk bilong Pikinini."
