The reader seeks to inspire more children in PNG to pursue a similar career. PNG currently only has 3 national Veterinarians.

It is vital for children to learn how to protect themselves from this preventable and devastating disease which affects millions of people in PNG. Malaria has a very negative effect on children’s overall health, so it is vital to try to avoid contracting it too often.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has this week conducted its annual teacher refresher training at APEC Haus for the organisations’ 50 teachers working in its Library Learning Centres around the country. The training has been sponsored by ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) as part of a partnership which also includes sponsorship for the BbP learning App as well as BbP’s Literacy Week program and celebrations.

BbP held awareness events it all its Library Learning Centres (LLCs) with the theme: "United in Action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for, with, and by persons with disabilities".

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has this week celebrated World Book Day at all its Library Learning Centres. The 5-year-old children all came dressed as their favourite book character. Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has today celebrated International Digital Learning Day and students enrolled at BbP’s Library Learning Centres have kick started their Digital Learning program for the year with fun activities.

As the world celebrates International Mother Language Day on the 21st of February with the theme “Multilingual education is a pillar of learning and intergenerational learning” – BbP’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program puts a focus on retaining local languages even as the children start learning English.
