38 children enrolled at Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) ECE Library Learning Centre on Tatana Island have today celebrated their graduation with a very special group of guests.

Port Moresby Rotary Club President, Robert Aisi has always said “Readers are leaders” and reiterated “the importance of Early Childhood Education to improve education outcomes for PNG school children” as he presented the cheque of K20,000 to Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP).

Thanks to sponsorship from Ela Motors, Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) was able to invite teams to compete in a fun-filled Christmas Charity Golf Tournament on Friday the 1st of December to raise funds for the organisation’s Early Childhood Education program.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) will celebrate the generous donation of a 15-seater bus with Ela Motors on the 23rd of November. Children from BbP’s Koki Markets Library Learning Centre will be in attendance to sing and test out the new bus.

BbP is grateful for the donation as it will allow the organisation to better service its 12 LLCs in Port Moresby and provide the students with the opportunity to go on educational excursions.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has today celebrated Universal Children’s Day in all its Library Learning Centres across Papua New Guinea to teach the children about their rights.

Universal Children’s Day is celebrated around the world on 20th November every year. Its goal is to improve child welfare worldwide, promote and celebrate children’s rights and promote togetherness and awareness amongst all children.

Buk bilong Pikinini held its Annual General Meeting for 2023 with members of the association at APEC Haus and via zoom. The members consist of corporate partners, organisations and fellow NGOs.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) was invited to set up a stall at the Theodist Education Pavillion at the Morobe Show on the 4th of November, 2023.

The BbP stall had an information booth to provide parents with information about the organisations’ free Early Childhood Education program, enrolment dates for 2024 as well as the great impact the BbP program has on the children’s English literacy skills, numeracy skills and general awareness.

35 children from Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Library Learning Centre (LLC) located at Evedahana Primary school will visit Ilimo Dairy Farm to learn where fresh milk comes from. This exciting field trip comes after Ilimo Dairy’s Education team visited the LLC to teach the children about the benefits of fresh milk.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has marked World Tooth brushing Day with an oral health awareness day at all Library Learning Centres.

17 lucky children, enrolled at Buk bilong Pikinini’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, made a field trip to Hastings Deering to inspect heavy vehicles used for construction and mining across PNG.

Children enrolled at BbP’s Library Learning Centres across PNG will be celebrating Global Hand washing Day on Monday the 16th to learn about personal hygiene practices through play and song. Children around the world are being taught to sing a popular song – such as Happy Birthday – twice, to make sure they wash their hands long enough to remove germs.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) today celebrated International Day of the Girl Child with PNG Air to thank the airline for their vital contribution to literacy across the country. The Children welcomed PNG Air Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Pitt, and Marketing and Media Coordinator, Dalai Thomas with flying paper planes to the organization’s 6 Mile Library Learning Centre.

200 children enrolled at Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Early Childhood Education program gathered today with donor partner companies, at the Port Moresby Nature Park.

Today, the first Market Day was held at BbP’s 9 Mile Monier/Hebou LLC located next to Rouna Quarry. The Market Day activity has been supported with fresh food, packaged foods and drinks generously donated by: Ilimo Dairy Farm, 9 Mile Farm, Trukai, Supreme Industries, CPL, Oceania Beverage, SVS Mart 2 Mile, BNG Trading, Airways Hotel, Pacific Industries and Sanitarium. SVS Mart also organised for their mascot cow to visit – much to the delight of the children.

A great number of activities and events will be taking place with children enrolled at Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Library Learning Centres to celebrate Literacy Week from the 4-8th of September.

The children and teachers set up an entire pretend “Koki Markets’ Hospital” at their Library Learning Centre to launch a new book entitled ‘When I Grow Up, I want to be a Doctor’ published by Buk bilong Pikinini.

To launch a new book entitled ‘When I Grow Up, I want to be a Lawyer’, 10 Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) children from the organisation’s Library Learning Centre at Vabukori went on a field trip to visit the office of Denton’s Lawyers.

To launch a new book entitled ‘When I Grow Up, I want to be Rugby Player’ 10 Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) children went on a field trip to visit the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium to meet with SP Hunters Players and learn what is required for the profession.

Graphic Design is everywhere – on signs, brochures, book covers, artwork and even on PNG’s notes and coins. Being a Graphic Designer can lead to many exciting jobs and creative artistic opportunities.

Archaeology is important for both the people of Papua New Guinea but also for humanity as the country has some of the oldest agricultural sites in the world. More Archaeologists will be needed in the future, to unearth more of the fascinating stories PNG has to share, which might soon include dinosaurs…
