Celebrating a Decade of Impact with the Sir Brian Bell Foundation

As one of Buk Bilong Pikinini’s Platinum Sponsors, the Sir Brian Bell Foundation (SBBF) has played a vital role in transforming the lives of thousands of children across Papua New Guinea through education and literacy. Since the beginning of this partnership, SBBF’s support has represented several million Kina in contributions.

Since 2018, SBBF’s unwavering commitment has helped sustain and strengthen seven Buk Bilong Pikinini Library Learning Centres at a time when some were at risk of closure due to funding challenges. Their support has ensured that children continue to access quality early childhood education, books, and safe, nurturing learning environments.

Over the years, this partnership has extended beyond our Library Learning Centres to include support for Buk Bilong Pikinini’s Book Publishing program. This includes sponsoring the printing and shipping of the “When I Grow Up” reader series, as well as supporting inclusive education training and community-focused programs that continue to improve learning outcomes for children across the country.

One of the most powerful measures of this impact is seen in the thousands of children who have graduated from our programs with strong foundational literacy skills. Children who once entered our centres unable to recognise letters are now confidently reading, learning, and progressing through school. Behind every success story is a family, a community, and a brighter future.

As the Sir Brian Bell Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary, we acknowledge its outstanding contribution to education and community development in Papua New Guinea. Through its support of Buk Bilong Pikinini and many other organisations, SBBF continues to make a lasting national impact.

Anne-Sophie Herman, Founder of Buk Bilong Pikinini, said:

“A great big congratulations on behalf of the Buk Bilong Pikinini Board of Directors, teachers, students, and families on your 10th anniversary milestone. We are fortunate to have an organisation such as the Sir Brian Bell Foundation, which supports so many NGOs, initiatives, and vital programs across the country in both health and education. A special thank you to CEO Bronwyn Wright, who is also the Chairperson of BbP, for your leadership and holistic support for our team, teachers, and students. We are deeply grateful and look forward to seeing what you will achieve in the next 10 years.”

To celebrate this milestone, children at Buk Bilong Pikinini’s Library Learning Centres were excited to take part in the occasion with cakes, handmade wishing cards, colourful artwork, and plenty of smiles.

We extend our sincere appreciation to CEO Bronwyn Wright, the SBBF Board, and the entire Foundation team for their vision, leadership, and ongoing commitment to improving the lives of Papua New Guinean children. We are especially grateful for Bronwyn’s service as Chair of Buk Bilong Pikinini and for the guidance, experience, and passion she brings to our organisation.

Thank you, Sir Brian Bell Foundation, for believing in the power of education and for helping us create brighter futures for Papua New Guinea’s children.
