Svitzer PNG Supports Buk bilong Pikinini Book Donation to Evedahana Primary & Junior High School
Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) is proud to announce the donation of 2,000 library books to Evedahana Primary & Junior High School, made possible through the generous support of Svitzer PNG. This contribution marks a meaningful start to Term 2, equipping both students and teachers with renewed access to essential learning resources. BbP is pleased to support Evedahana Primary School & Junior High School, as the school hosts a Buk bilong Pikinini Early Childhood Centre, with many of our students continuing their education further into the school. Through this support, we look to encourage and sustain the reading culture that is actively nurtured within our centers.
The donation includes 1,000 books for the primary school and 1,000 books for the junior high school, supporting classroom learning, research, and independent reading. These resources will play a key role in strengthening literacy skills and fostering a lifelong love of reading among students.
This initiative reflects Svitzer PNG’s commitment to education and community development, enabling Buk bilong Pikinini to continue its mission of improving literacy outcomes across Papua New Guinea.
Leanne Resson, Executive Officer of Buk bilong Pikinini, said:
“Books open the door to imagination, creativity, and opportunity. When a child picks up a book, they begin a journey where anything is possible. By simply opening these pages, they can start building a future filled with knowledge and success. We encourage all students to develop a daily reading habit, and we thank the teachers for their continued dedication in guiding and inspiring young readers. We are also grateful to the Evedahana community for welcoming Buk bilong Pikinini into your school environment. Having a library within the school vicinity creates a safe and nurturing space where children can learn, explore, and grow together.”
Anna Ingip, Crewing Officer PNG, said: “We are proud to support Buk bilong Pikinini in delivering these books to Evedahana. Education is a powerful tool for change, and we believe that access to quality reading materials can help shape brighter futures for young people across Papua New Guinea.”
Mr. Kagayabi, Primary School Head Teacher, said:
“We are truly grateful for this generous donation made possible through Buk bilong Pikinini and Svitzer PNG. Literacy remains a challenge in many parts of Papua New Guinea, and access to books like these is essential in improving learning outcomes for our students. We feel privileged to be among the schools selected to receive this support. I encourage our students to make reading a daily habit because the more they read, the more they learn and grow. These books will open many opportunities for them.”
The Principal of the Junior High School shared similar sentiments, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the donation and acknowledging the positive impact these resources will have on students’ academic growth and confidence.
Buk bilong Pikinini is calling on corporate organizations across Papua New Guinea to partner in supporting schools that urgently need access to books and learning materials. Many schools still face significant resource gaps, limiting children’s ability to reach their full potential.
Through partnerships like this, organizations have the opportunity to create lasting change in education just as Svitzer PNG has demonstrated through its generous contribution.
Buk bilong Pikinini also extends its sincere appreciation to PNG Air, Express Freight Management, and Sea Fast for their invaluable logistical support in transporting books from Australia to Papua New Guinea and assisting with distribution across various provinces.
In addition, Buk bilong Pikinini acknowledges the ongoing support of partners who have contributed to book donations so far this quarter, including Fincorp, Blue Water Shipping, and the Warrnambool Rotary Club. Their contributions continue to expand access to books for children nationwide, and Buk bilong Pikinini welcomes more partners to join this important mission.
Now is the time to invest in our children’s future.
Support literacy. Support education. Support Papua New Guinea.
