Sir Theo Foundation Strengthen Partnership for 2026 to Buk bilong Pikinini with annual sponsorship of K49,045.68.
Buk bilong Pikinini has celebrated another milestone in its long-standing partnership with The Sir Theo Foundation, receiving a sponsorship cheque for K49,045.68 in support to Buk bilong PIkinini (BbP) for 2026, for the running of BbP’s Port Moresby General Hospital Library Corner on Monday 11th May, 2026.
BbP’s Library Corner at the Port Moresby General Hospital, was BbP’s very first library centre to be established in 2007, and is now located in Paediatric Ward 3C, and continues to offer admitted children and their families a calm, welcoming space inside the hospital. It provides access to books, early learning materials, and literacy activities for children, including siblings and children of patients receiving care.
The library corner is attended to daily by Head Libarian, Ms Kaia Sepa. And the space supports daily reading and learning engagement in a safe and child-friendly environment.
The Sir Theo Foundation, the charitable arm of The Constantinou Group of Companies, has supported the Library Corner. The Group’s broader partnership with BbP dates back to 2008, making them one of BbP’s earliest and most consistent supporters with their support of BbP’s 6 mile and 9 mile library learning centres (LLC) in Port Moresby and for last year alone, Pari LLC.
The cheque was presented by Mr George Constantinou, Group Chairman & Governing Director of The Constantinou Group of Companies, and received by BbP’s Executive Officer, Ms Leanne Resson.
Mr Constantinou said, “We are pleased to continue supporting the work and mission of Buk bilong Pikinini. Supporting education and health remains a key focus of the foundation, and we look forward to continuing this partnership into the future.”
Ms Resson expressed BbP’s sincere appreciation for the ongoing commitment, saying, “The Sir Theo Foundation and the Constantinou Group of Companies have been valued supporters of Buk bilong Pikinini since 2008. We are truly grateful for their continued support, which enables BbP to provide much-needed educational resources and programs for children admitted to the hospital, as well as their siblings.” She also conveyed her thanks to the foundation on behalf of the children, their families, the hospital, and the BbP team.
Sister Martha Rapea, the head nurse in charge of the ward also highlighted the difference the Library Corner continues to make for children and families in the ward and hospital.
Also present were board members of the foundation namely Meghan Toka and Courtney Abel, who witnessed the presentation and acknowledged the importance of the partnership in supporting literacy and child wellbeing within the hospital.
The ongoing support from The Sir Theo Foundation and The Constantinou Group of Companies will continue to strengthen BbP’s mission to improve early literacy and learning opportunities for children across Papua New Guinea.
BbP extends its sincere appreciation for a partnership that continues to create meaningful impact where it is needed most.
