Buk bilong Pikinini Appreciates Support from Operation Planti Balus to Fly Books around PNG for Literacy Week
Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the Operation Planti Balus team for their generous support in approving our application for assistance with cargo freighting to our five Library Learning Centres (LLCs) in Lae, Goroka, and Manus. These resources are intended for use in Term 4 by our teams in these locations.
Last Friday, BbP successfully transferred its cargo at the Air Transport Wing in Port Moresby for Lae, Goroka, and Manus, and this week, the consignments have been loaded onto Defence and Air Force aircraft to be transported to the respective provinces — a quick turnaround that BbP greatly appreciates.
Operation Planti Balus is a collaborative initiative involving the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) alongside Air Force teams from Australia, New Zealand, and France. The operation sees the use of aircraft from PNGDF and these Air Forces, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of essential teaching and learning resources to our regional LLCs.
As a leading local children’s NGO specializing in Early Childhood Education, BbP is dedicated to providing quality learning opportunities for the children of Papua New Guinea. Assistance such as this goes a long way in helping BbP reduce operational costs while ensuring that our teachers are well-equipped with the books and resources they need to teach and inspire young children.
In light of this week’s PNGDF Defence Week celebrations, BbP is extremely proud to be receiving this support and looks forward to more collaborations in the future to work together in building brighter futures for PNG’s children.
