World Biscuit Day with the Lae Biscuit Company Brings Smiles and Fun Learning to Buk bilong Pikinini Children

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) celebrated World Biscuit Day across its Library Learning Centres (LLCs) in the country and in Port Moresby and Lae, with the generous support of Lae Biscuit Company (LBC) and The Chow Foundation, with yummy biscuits.

Children enjoyed a fun-filled day of biscuit-themed activities including colouring-in, biscuit decorating, games, storytelling and learning activities, creating lots of excitement and laughter throughout the centres.

At BbP’s St Steven LLC in Lae, sponsored by The Chow Foundation, the charity arm of the Lae Biscuit Company, the celebrations were made extra special with the awesome LBC events team attending to celebrate with the students and teachers. Children got dressed up as different LBC biscuit brands, adding color and creativity to the day and bringing plenty of smiles to everyone involved.

Students also enjoyed tasting the newly launched Lewa Cookies line while learning simple but important messages about healthy eating and oral hygiene.

Children were encouraged to enjoy biscuits together with healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, eggs and peanut butter, and  milk while also remembering the importance of regular tooth brushing after to help prevent cavities.

Buk bilong Pikinini would like to sincerely thank The Chow Foundation for recently becoming an LLC partner and supporting the establishment of the new St Steven Library Learning Centre in 2025 at 3 Mile in Lae. This support is helping provide children in the community with access to books, early learning and a safe space to learn and grow.

BbP also extends its heartfelt appreciation to Lae Biscuit Company for its continued support over many years. Most recently, LBC supported BbP’s Lae Showground LLC with 90 cartons of biscuits to assist fundraising efforts after the centre experienced a theft incident where important items were stolen.

Over the years, LBC has continued to support BbP through biscuit donations, student activities and special events, including visits and activities involving the Snax Tigers team. Their support has helped make learning more enjoyable and memorable for many children attending BbP centres.

Buk bilong Pikinini is truly grateful to all donor partners and supporters who continue to stand alongside the organisation in supporting children and families in local communities. BbP also encourages more corporate organisations and community partners to support its programs and help create brighter opportunities for children across Papua New Guinea.
