CRITERIA FOR DONATION

To ensure book donations and educational support are distributed fairly and effectively, schools are required to complete the Buk bilong Pikinini School Criteria Form with important details including school level, student and teacher population, class numbers, location, available learning resources, and contact information. The criteria also help assess the needs of each school, especially those in remote communities, while before and after photos help document the impact of the donated books and learning materials. Through this process, Buk bilong Pikinini aims to support schools that will benefit most from improved access to quality reading resources and literacy opportunities.

June Valley Primary School Donation

Buk bilong Pikinini proudly donated 1,000 library books to June Valley Primary School through the generous support of Warrnambool Rotary Club. The donation aims to strengthen the school’s library resources and improve access to quality reading and learning materials for both students and teachers. The books will support classroom learning, independent reading, and help encourage a stronger culture of literacy within the school community.

This contribution is especially significant as the school library has not been fully operational for many years. The donation represents an important step towards reviving the library space and ensuring students have greater opportunities to learn, explore, and grow through reading. Buk bilong Pikinini remains committed to supporting schools across Papua New Guinea by increasing access to books and promoting the importance of literacy and education for every child.

SCHOOLS AWARDED IN 2026

EPS:

Buk bilong Pikinini, with the generous support of Svitzer PNG, proudly donated 2,000 library books to Evedahana Primary & Junior High School to support literacy and education in the school community. The donation included 1,000 books for the primary school and 1,000 books for the junior high school, providing students and teachers with greater access to quality reading and learning resources.

The books will support classroom learning, research, and independent reading while encouraging students to develop stronger literacy skills and a lifelong love for reading. This contribution also strengthens the educational journey for children attending the Buk bilong Pikinini Early Childhood Centre located within the school community.

Miaru Primary School

Buk bilong Pikinini, with the generous support of Svitzer PNG, proudly donated 1,000 library books to Miaru Primary School in Gulf Province to help improve access to quality education and reading materials for children in this remote community.

The official handover took place at the Buk bilong Pikinini warehouse in Port Moresby, where representatives gathered to present the books before they began their journey to Gulf Province. The books will travel by PMV and boat to reach Miaru Primary School, highlighting the logistical challenges many remote schools in Papua New Guinea continue to face in accessing educational resources. This donation will help support literacy development, classroom learning, and encourage students to build a lifelong love for reading. For many children in remote communities, access to books remains limited, making contributions like this especially meaningful in creating better learning opportunities and supporting children’s educational growth.

Ted Diro Primary School:

Buk bilong Pikinini proudly donated 1,250 library books to Ted Diro Primary and Elementary School through the generous support of Blue Water Shipping. The donation included 1,000 books for the primary school and 250 books for the elementary school, helping to provide students and teachers with greater access to quality reading and learning materials.

The donation comes at an important time as the school begins Term 2 and aims to strengthen classroom reading resources and support literacy development among students. With no central library currently available at the school, these books will play a valuable role in encouraging reading, supporting classroom learning, and helping students develop a lifelong love for books and education.
