How to receive a book donation?

School Library restoration

If your school or class room looks a bit like the above image you can request the donation of a School Library Kit from Buk bilong Pikinini. We receive requests every single day from schools across the country in desperate need of books to support the children’s education. So due to this high demand for our School Library Kits please expect to wait a while for your donation to happen.

These are the steps to follow:

  • Step 1: Email Timothy Akus - timothy@bukbilongpikinini.org to request a donation.

  • Step 2: Please ensure your email contains the following information:

1. The total number of students enrolled at the school and number of teachers.

2. The name of your school

3. School level or grades. eg: primary school - grades 1-8. The teacher to student ratio.

4. State the number of schools within the same area

5. State your location - province and region (remote or urban)

6. Photos of empty book shelves and the building or room the books will be stored in

7. Specify who will be in charge of the books. eg: school librarian or name of teacher and position title

As soon as the required information is received, your request will be recorded on our waiting list for a book donation.

  • Step 3: Upon receiving the books, photos must be taken with the students and teachers (group photos of students with the books as well as unpacking and utilising the books, thus placing them on the book shelves.) Please send the images to timothy@bukbilongpikinini.org - if you know the name of the donor company, organisation or school which have assisted Buk bilong Pikinini to make this donation - please send us a message of thanks that we can pass on to our generous sponsors.

  • Step 4: Once we receive the images from you we will add them to the gallery below and also do a thank you to our donor on our social media pages. PNG Air supports Buk bilong Pikinini with flying our School Library Kits to regional destinations.
